The ‘Young Starlings’ four-track EP is the long-awaited second release from Duke Raoul, and like the unexpected thrill of rediscovering an erstwhile lover’s painstakingly compiled C60, title track ‘Young Starlings’ evokes all the urgency of a carefree teenage summer. The synthesized haze of ‘Break Up Your Routine’ envelops and reassures like a 21st century lullaby; dreamy Fleet Foxes-esque harmonies soothe staccato guitars and bolshy drums on ‘Cloak and Dagger’ while ‘Made of Magic’ s raging guitars bring melody and discord in equal measure.

Following on from their critically acclaimed debut single, Duke Raoul cut us another finely woven swathe of atmospheric indie-riffage in the vein of M83 or My Bloody Valentine with added pop sensibility. Intricate melodies are laced with ethereal backing vocals courtesy of Elizabeth Walling (AKA hotly-tipped newcomer Gazelle Twin) and envelop you like a slow dance at a doom pop disco that tells you you’re not going home alone.

We are very proud (and extremely excited) to announce our first ever release!! ‘Strange’/'Dead Echoes’ (double-A) by Duke Raoul, available on limited edition (500 hand-numbered) 7″ vinyl and digital download, will be released on 22 March 2010. Well, here we are – literally tobogganing into a new decade on our makeshift sledges (Alex Raoul’s wok definitely beats our bath tub, hands down). The year ahead holds many exciting things to look forward to – the prospect of our first ever release is currently pencilled in for early March; 7 inches of lovely, lovely vinyl containing Duke Raoul’s ‘Strange’ and ‘Dead Echoes’ (double A-side).

We look forward to continuing the expansion of our, now lovingly renovated, studio and helping more great music get ‘out there’ without compromising creativity or breaking the bank.
